"What It Comes Down To" is a song that talks about a man's commitment to his girlfriend and him advising his girlfriend to be as committed because that's "all he wants" from her. "What It Comes Down To" features a synthesizer keyboard solo from Chris Jasper, Ernie Isley's guitar chops, lead singer Ronald Isley's mixture of tenor and falsetto and older brothers Rudolph and Kelly's harmonies. The b-side of the song was the ballad "The Highways Of My Life".
The song peaked at number 55 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was a top five hit on the R&B singles chart where it peaked at number 5.
